Five Hundred Okinawans Sit in Front of US Base in Henoko
On November 11, approximately 500 Okinawans sat in front of the gate of Camp Schwab (the US air base in Henoko, Okinawa) to protest the construction of a new base. The Okinawa Times reported that this was the biggest protest ever held in front of the Camp Schwab. This protesters were removed by riot police, but they soon came back and sat in front of the gate. They clashed with riot police for about an hour and half, which blocked vehicles trying to enter Camp Schawb and caused traffic jams on nearby streets.
