Jugoya (十五夜)is the Japanese full moon festival which comes in mid September. This year, Jugoya is October 4th. Jugoya is also called Chu Shu No Meigetsu (中秋の名月)which means a full moon that appears in mid autumn. On the evening of Jugoya, it is traditional for Japanese people to enjoy the beautiful full moon of Autumn and also to be thankful for the harvest season which begins soon after. During Jugoya, people put out dangos to evoke the  round shape of a full moon and Japanese pampas grass which people believe can ward away evil.
