Saint Young Men

Saint Young Men is a comic that depicts the two saints, Buddha and Jesus Christ living in modern Japan. They descend to the Earth to enjoy a long vacation. They live in a small apartment with no bath in Tachikawa City, Tokyo as roommates. They live quite poorly, working part time for low wages. However, their lives on Earth are quite rich in spirit. They genuinely enjoy their time on Earth again.

The story is a lighthearted comedy, and there are jokes stemming from both Buddhism and Christianity, which are quite funny. They live secretly hiding their identity, but are often flocked by crowds of people and animals because of their alluring, lovable, saintly aura.

Jesus often ends up impulse buying unnecessary items. Buddha is more economical, so he always scolds Jesus whenever he comes home with something that is not needed for daily life. Since they are saints, they seldom become confrontational to one another, and this is the only time where they have conflicts.

Saint Young Men is written by Hikaru Nakamura. It has been published in comic magazine, Morning two since 2006. There are eleven volumes of graphic novels so far.
