Sunshower: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia 1980s from Now

Sunshower, an art exhibit featuring contemporary art by artists in Southeast Asia from 1980’s to the present day is taking place at Mori Arts Museum and the National Art Center from July 5th, 2017 to October 23rd. This exhibition was held to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) which was established in 1967. Many pieces of art by artists from Southeast Asia with various themes, such as recycling, mediation, politics, World War II, religion, and animal rights activism. The exhibition radiates the beauty of Southeast Asian culture, and makes visitors feel the connectedness of Japan to the Southeast Asia.
