19 Year Old Man Was Arrested For Mailing Death Threat to SEALDs Leader

On January 5th, a 19 year old man residing Aichi Prefecture was arrested by Kanagawa Prefectural Police for the alleged mailing a death threat addressed to Aiki Okuda in September of last year. Okuda is the leader of a student’s political organization called SEALDs. The letter was mailed to Meiji University in Tokyo, however Okuda goes to another university in Tokyo with a similar name, Meiji Gakuin University. The suspect seems to mistakenly have thought that Okuda went to Meiji Univeristy. In his letter, the suspect threatened to murder Okuda and his family. Okuda filed a police report with the Kanagawa Prefectural Police soon after he received the letter.
