Ippudo is a ramen chain based in Hakata city, Japan. They opened a new restaurant in London last October, and the menu has a local flavor. Ippudo London serves fish and chips as well as ramen.
Fish and chips is an iconic British food, but Ippudo gives it a twist. The chips are topped with herbs and the tartar sauce contains wasabi. Most noticeably, the fish is broken into pieces so the whole thing can be eaten with chopsticks. The fish itself is black cod and is coated in a delicious crisp batter. The wasabi tartar sauce compliments the fish well, the wasabi giving the sauce a distinct aftertaste. The dish also comes with a generous serving of vinegar. This has a very rich flavour and matches well with the herby chips.
