Japanese Actress Appears in Reboot of Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks is a drama series directed by David Lynch that was on air from 1990 and 1991. The story starts when FBI agent Cooper comes to Twin Peaks in Washington to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. The new series of Twin Peaks started in May and is being aired by the American cable network, “Show Time”. A Japanese actress, Nae Yuuki (47) got casted in the new series. Her role is an Asian woman, Naido, whose eyelids have been sewn together.
Yuuki was a successful actress in Japan when she was young. However, the sudden decline in her career happened in 1993 when she starred in a drama series titled, Pokeberu ga Naranakute roughly translating to The Pager Did Not Beep. In the drama series, Yuuki played a woman who had an affair with a married man, and her character was hated severely by female viewers and the image of the character was so strong that audiences also began hating Yuuki as well. The opportunities for her to appear on TV decreased more and more since then.
More than 20 years have passed since then, and most of public will have forgotten about the hateful impressions of her. Her appearance in the new series of Twin Peaks will most likely change her image for the better.
