MP Akira Amari Has Medical Leave
On February 16, the Liberal Democratic Party announced that MP Akira Amari has been diagnosed with a sleeping disorder and will take medical leave for a month. MP Amari was the subject of a recent bribery scandal, which was reported by Shukan Bunshun at the end of January.
He had tongue cancer at the early stage in 2012 and had surgery. He asked Prime Minister Abe that he would like to resign as Minister, but due to Abe’s request, he continued to be the minister and TPP chief negotiator.
