Just beside the entrance to Iidabashi Station, there is a store with lines out the door. It’s called Fujiya’s Pastry and I couldn’t resist taking a look. The store’s mascot is Pekochan, a little girl with red overalls and Bunches. You can see Pekochan on candy wrappers across Japan. I don’t know if France has a similar character. There are many Fujiya stores in Japan, but the Kagarazaka location is the only one where you can eat Pekochan Yaki, which are a kind of waffle with cream inside. You have a choice of several flavors including chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. Now I understand why there were so many people in this shop.
